Introduction to Human Resource Management
" Team HR continues to be an extension of our management team for the formation of wining teams, leadership development and coaching skills during a challenging business climate " - Donna Morrow
Human Resources is the organizational function that handles people and issues linked to people such as compensation and benefits, recruitment, performance management, training, organization development and culture, planning, and performance. Human resource management describes formal systems formulated for the management of people within the company. This was a fundamental subject for me as it was the core subject for all the other HR subjects that was taught later on in college. This subject serves as an introduction on wages and salaries, benefits, safety and risk management, training and development, employee satisfaction, recruitment and hiring, maintaining compliance and more.
During my internship, I applied lots of HR subjects that I have learnt in college into my work but I always find myself going back to this subjects as this was where I gained knowledge about all the basics of HR which has helped me in all my HR related tasks at work.
My Personal Reflection:
IHRM for did not just expand only my skills, knowledge and experience but also has grown me as a person. IHRM has been my first core growing platform of Human Resource knowledge and introduction. This core platforms has allowed me be able to expose to various field within HR. Example, public relations, training and development, domestic inquiry, employment act and employee relations and more. IHRM has been planted and it’s root of knowledge and understanding has grown me to be more diversify in terms of growth and exposure from meeting and networking with experts and specialist, industrial icons and meeting influencing leaders has been an enormous opportunity given to be to help me understand myself better in this field. The industrial experience and learning was the first exposure that allowed me to learn and recognize that the theory taught in college is different when compared to the practical that is being applied into an organization. The basic theories taught was used as a reference and guideline, while the way they apply the varies method and style depending on the company.
This subject had reflected, taught and became my stepping stone for me to grow more and have a better understanding as well as the taste of what and how is the human resource and the management’s role is very important. The human resource is the heart and core of an company and it is also the key that turns and keep the company running. Without human resource, an organization or company does not exist or may function well.
